Unwind With Wool
2hr Workshop

With Melissa Spratt

This mindful and relaxing 2 hour workshop, “Unwind with Wool” will teach you how to transform the fun, easy and therapeutic technique of finger knitting into a beautifully crafted sculptural artwork, ready to adorn your walls.

Each participant will choose a selection of different coloured and textured wools and one of three unique round patterns, or the more adventurous can work intuitively creating their own pattern.   The finger knitted yarn will then be set in place onto the felt backing with a hot glue, to create flowing and organic patterns. Once complete, the piece will be finished with a secure hanging hook, making it ready for your wall.

All materials and light refreshments will be provided.

Melissa Spratt is an emerging artist living on the Gold Coast. Interested in artistic practices from an early age Melissa went on to study a Bachelor of Digital Media, majoring in Fine Art at Griffith University, Queensland College of Art and has since completed her final year of Honours. She has now also furthered her higher education, completing the Diploma of Education in secondary Visual Arts at QUT.

During the past five years, she has gained an array of skills and developed a natural talent. Melissa has worked with various mediums; paint, photography, drawing, but her most recent work is in the realm of installation and sculpture art. She is meticulous about each aspect of her work and creates subtle abstracted interaction of personal identity as subject matter to prompt her further questioning.

Through the seeking of advice, wisdom and knowledge about the creative industry Melissa’s ambitions have been ever growing, where she is continually creating, teaching and looking to broaden all new opportunities.
